About Me
As an author, poet, and Spirit Warrior, I write about the human journey, with a focus on the themes survival and healing, feminism and social justice, and love in its many forms.

I live in Massachusetts with my wife, Michelle and our feline children. I am a proud crazy-cat-woman; along with books, cats are one of the most important things in my world. It has pained me to change this section, as, one by one, our cats have transitioned to spirit. Our Thea, Maggie, Jazmine, Willow, and Storm, will never be forgotten. We must always choose that which brings us joy, so I am thrilled to announce the newest additions to our family; Fern and Clover.
Although most of my time is spent writing and reading, I also love being out in nature, as the ocean, the forest, and the mountains all share unique wisdom, energy, and inspiration to share.
I’m both a hippie-soul who honors her innate divinity and a woman haunted by the pain of her own humanity. I’ve been a warrior all my life, battling those things that threaten to destroy my spirit. As a Witch, my words and the energy I put out into the world are my most potent forms of magic. With a passion for improving the world, I work to foster community, peace, love, and the expression of differing realities. Through my work, I encourage folks to discover an inner wisdom that comes through strengthening mind, body, and spirit.
While I never quite fit in academica, I'm a proud scholar. After earning my BS in Psychology and Women's Studies, I worked as a mental health counselor with the intent of becoming a therapist. I quickly learned that I could not stay true to myself and help others in the ways I wanted to while working in a system built on values I didn't share. I then took the courses necessary to attain my elementary teaching license, only to realize that I was still trying to create societal change within that very same system. Finally, in 2014, I returned to school again to earn a degree that put me back on the path of my true passion: an MA in English and Creative Writing. After years of trying to fit into a variety of careers that did not feel authentic, I listened to my soul and officially began my career as a writer.
In 2023, I opened WriteWorks, with my good friend and business partner, Jennifer Fay Smith. As Book Coaches, we're both passionate about stories and building community with other writers. We're both indie authors, avid readers, and have varied life experience that allow us to connect to the nuances of language and storytelling across many genres. Whether realism or fantasy, contemporary or historical, I am especially passionate about helping writers who are telling stories of the feminist/spiritual journey and stories that have a diversity element, whether the representation is queer, POC, or differing abilities and realities. We are currently in the process of restructuring our coaching services, and will not be accepting new clients until spring, 2025.

Although I have many writing projects, my Spirit Warrior series is my main focus; I consider it my life's work. I’m very open about the fact that the main character in many books in the series, Susan, represents me and a fictionalized version of my journey. Since I was fifteen, I’ve known that I would to tell my story. I spent over 30 years trying to figure out how to find the ideal balance between truth and fiction, one that allowed me to tell my truth. Truth is not only an individual thing, but it can be raw and painful, and it’s ever-changing, so each book in the series depicts a perspective, a snapshot in time along the journey. As this project has evolved, I have been honored and humbled to understand that the purpose for my series goes far beyond telling my own story. The series will also include books that tell fictionalized versions of my mother's and my grandmother's stories, too. The Spirit Warrior series is not only a means of personal healing, but it aims to support generational and collective healing.
Spirit Warrior is not just a fiction series that depict my journey but a movement to encourage others to choose healing. We all have a story to tell, and storytelling is a part of healing. The moment you choose healing, you become a Spirit Warrior.
